According to their site, Design Harvest is notes as – “The West Town Chamber of Commerce along with Post 27 are proud to present Design Harvest, a new annual street festival for Chicago. Mixing furniture, accessories and antiques in a new way… sometimes the mid-west has just the right mix.

This Cicero Bungalow light fixture was given to me by my Accountant, Joe Ender. He’s a lovely man that lives in a vintage Cicero bungalow outside of Chicago. Me being the Virgo I am, have emotion in everything and now am reworking my 1/2 bathroom to accomodate this cast iron fixture. Come along for the ride.  I’m planning to update my blog with the fixture repair, medicine cabinet retro fit and wall finish selections.

Lesson learned: There’s always a leaping off point, just gotta find it! I found mine in this old fixture. Thanks Joe.

What’s a Vintage Bungalow Look Like: Home Builders Catalog, Cicero Bungalow Rehab Story

Mansour Modern, just released a line of Vintage – Swedish rugs, like the Swedish Kilim style shown.  Strong graphics are making their way onto our floors and in bedspreads.

Other trends popping on the scene:

• Grey Leather and tucked detailing
• Animal busts in new materials
• Imports in ceramics, artwork and finishes
• Modern Lamps accenting traditional furniture
• Anything vintage and weathered is good!

Yard-ifacts… man-made objects for your yard giving it a sense of humor and a pop of color.

This week I’ve been hunting down garden objects to bring in the summer season.  I searched high and low for color, texture, shape and oddity.

I found brightly colored trellis, textured pots and a mixture of pattern and glazes at The Growing Place in Naperville, IL.  They offer thousands of varieties of trees, plants, flowers and a large selection of garden objects, pots and containers.  The best part of the Naperville location is the “secret garden” setting you feel like you’re walking through a special place.

The oversized chicken and wire human-oid sculptures are the whimsy I was looking for.  Tuck them away as a screen or peering over a patch of flowers will give these guys a bit of humor that every garden needs… a pop of interest.  Also found in Naperville, in a small garden shop behind City Hall on Water Street just off of Main Street.

Cruising thru the “featured sellers” today on etsy, I was reading about the team over at paintsquare.  Design enthusiasts and crafters, have compiled wood and paint to create modern wall art. These panels often paired / grouped installations create a harmonious feel and key in on the trade secret of keeping hue / saturation levels constant yet using many colors can achieve harmony.

Well done, I’d love a couple of these on my wall.
