Yesterday I was with Poppy out and about in Wheaton, IL. We stopped for a coffee and walked over to the Wise Penny Resale Shop, benefiting Central DuPage Hospital Auxiliary.

I found this cute Louis XV Fauteuil - Slipper Chair for the girls. It’s a great find, and proceeds go to a good cause. With a little paint and new upholstery, I think this could be a special chair for the girls to read on.

It’s been a long winter. We headed to Chicago this weekend to get out of the house and seek out some new places.

We visited Sprout Home, an eclectic gardening and home store offering unique plants and items for the home. I found some cool plants and interesting home goods offered by local design firm Binth. I need to check them out a little more as their designs are all the rage in Domino magazine and mimic the graphic style of design that I’ve been into lately.
At Sprout I picked up two bamboo plants called running bamboo dwarf whitestripe. It’s a grassy plant with spiky variegated leaves that can grow up to 4′ tall. I’m planning to flank our large TV on both sides to take away from the big black box effect and add a little color to the room.
We also stopped at an architectural restoration store, Salvage One, and visited my favorite Thai restaurant, Penny Noodles in Wicker Park.
A good day was had by all, and with all the renovation around our house It’s nice to get outta the house and go somewhere new for a change.

What Have We Been Up To?
Well, we’re wrapping up our most recent project, our kitchen renovation. Our goal was to try to use as many environmental products as we could, keep the design fun and functional while remaining within our budget.

The shades of green on this project include:
- Reuse of existing cabinetry to make new -
CabinetPak Kitchens
- Forbo - Marmoleum Bulletin Board
- Aura - Low VOC Paint, Benjamin Moore
- Glass Cabinet Inserts
