Color Trends – ’07: Tips and Sources

Posted by liz on Aug 17th, 2007

Color Trend, Blue Room I’ve been offering a lot of color advice lately and reading the trend reports help. Most color forecasts are looking to segment color palettes into categories such as exotics, urban, elegant, and natural. I like to blend the categories, define areas of architectural interest, and make subtle transitions that tie a home into a comprehensive design.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • What natural materials are you living with?
  • What are the underlying colors that are going to drive the palette?
  • Where can we add drama? Paint for the walls, accessories or fabric?
  • How can I make my space inviting, but not overpowering?
  • What architectural elements can be enhanced?
  • What is my focal point in the room?
  • How can I work my art into the space w/ color?

Colors I’m into:

  • Aqua/Teal
  • Misty Grey & White Champagne
  • Iridescent
  • Fuchsia
  • Orange
  • Browns and Blues
